administration – set of activities designed to control change by identifying the work products that are likely to change, establishing relationships among them, defining mechanisms for managing different versions of these work products, controlling the changes imposed, and auditing and reporting on the changes made.
application – a subclass of computer software that employs the capabilities of a computer directly and thoroughly to a task that the user wishes to perform.
change management – an IT Service Management discipline that is meant to ensure that standardized methods and procedures are used for efficient and prompt handling of all changes to controlled IT infrastructure, in order to minimise the number and impact of any related incidents upon service.
delivery – the activities that make a software system available for use.
development – a structure imposed on the development of a software product.
helpdesk – information and assistance resource that troubleshoots problems.
integration – the use of software and computer systems' architectural principles to integrate a set of enterprise applications.
maintenance – the modification of a software product after delivery to correct faults, to improve performance or other attributes, or to adapt the product to a modified environment.
migration – the rewriting or porting of a legacy system to a modern programming language, software libraries, protocols, or hardware or software platform.
platform – either hardware or software framework, which allows software to run.
redesign – designing and implementing a new overall structure of a software system, without changing its external behavior, and with the goal to increase its flexibility.
release – the operations to prepare a system for assembly and transfer to the customer site.
technical manager – provides technical direction on business decisions and in the execution of specific projects.
